Looking back at the NW

Web MonkeyLife, racing

Well, here I am Sunday afternoon after the North West and sore is not the word, but then I suppose you’d expect to be after hitting a kerb with my arse at a good 120mph. It’s not the end of the world though. We didn’t had the best NW200 but it could have been a damnsight worse. Look at the Dunlop family… What we had is an educational day. I was leading the main Superbike race by nearly five seconds and with only two laps to go a 50p hose clip let go and pee’d on mine and the team’s bonfire.

But it’s not all doom. We set the quickest lap on the Superbike, broke the lap record on the Superstock and got our handling and stability nearly sorted for the TT. So a big thanks to all the team for their effort and perseverance. It will all come right for the TT. I’d rather get the problems out of the way here at the NW than at the TT.

But less of the boring stuff, I ended up going back to basics for the NW, sleeping in the back of my van, at the side of the beach, for the whole week. A few of my mates where over from Lincolnshire. They’d come over for the surfing, so I had a couple of paddles out with them early morning. I wouldn’t call it surfing, more floating, but there’s nowt better to get you going in the morn. So I’ve got a day or two to get a bit of work out of the way before I head to the TT on Wednesday night.

I’m off up to Cadwell on Tuesday night if anyone fancies a brew. It’s the PB mag 90s track day, so with a bit of luck I’ll get a run out on an ex-works RC45. Mint.
