Silverstone F1, short track racing, camping

Evening all. Just sat at Wozza’s (my mechanic) house in Morecambe, having a brew, waiting to get a ferry to the Isle of Man for the Southern 100.

Today I’ve been doing a bit of flat track (in the Short Track UK series) up at Middlesborough. Pete Boast kindly lent me his CRF 450 Honda for a quick run out. It’s been nearly 7 months since i had a go at flat track, but the last time i was out I was on a proper CCM flat tracker which you’d think would be ideal for the job, but after a quick lap out on Pete’s bike I knew she was the bike for the job. She’s only a converted motocross bike but it just makes the job loads easier. I was getting nicely into the job and on my last heat to get into the final, lying second, just where i needed to be to get into the final, when I had to do a do or die move on the last corner. I got knotted up with a backmarker and ended up in a heap. That pee’d on my bonfire of getting into the final. Ih well there will be another time, and i just about getting the hang of it so I’m looking forward to pete letting me have another run out on his bike.

It was a bit of a rush job to get to the flat track. Me and my girlfriend, Kate weere doing a thing for Honda at the Silvestone F1. They asked me a couple of weeks ago if I fancied doing a bit of camping and meeting a few F1 drivers, I’m allways at the front of the queue when it comes to a bit of camping. This was no ordinary camping though. Typical Honda, the tents where all pre-built and made out of re-cycled material. We where suplied with flip flops and loads of fancy skin care stuff, not to much up my street but Kate was in her element. We met the world Rubik’s cube champion, had some poker lessons and got arseholed on our home made cocktails. What a weekend, eh ? And now I’m waiting to get on a ferry for the southern 100, its a hard life eh!
