My dad raced at the Isle of Man TT on a P&M GS1000 with a full Yoshimura engine in 1982. That year he was given the number 69. This was at a time before oral sex had been discovered in England. In Lincolnshire anyway.
So when some French riders came up smiling and saying ‘Soixante-neuf’. My dad and his mate didn’t hear them properly and didn’t know what they were on about, so they looked at each other saying ‘Wath-on-Dern? That’s near Doncaster.’
