  2. hi GUY, can i introduce myself to you, Cecilia,

re situ over frac..,’its new but a slightly controversial way of getting energy…plus its going off in linconshire and lancs, from info, off net.and it says, question of digging deeper into the ground, beneath the seas..
guy, work it out yourself, ?? think its a question of trying to find oil around uk shores? ??
you are a top guy, full on, no doubt about that.100% REAL MAN….!wooooo soo sexy you would not believe. the it man. i will leave it at that, cos i would go on all night

    HI,Guy,
    Here goes it,…
You want to know what ‘Fracking’ is about?
Fracking is a term used within the mining industry, and it has been used for quite some time in order to split up rocks inorder to attain gas or oil.
now, whats been happening is, as the reserves, traditionally mined, have declined, innovations have been made to mine energy resources which occur lower beneath the earth. These reserves are found in rock formations that are hard and non porus, unlike the rock formations found above them (containing the fuels we have been mining since the industrial revolution).
These rock formations are known as ‘shale’.
In order to release the methane gas from them, a process known as ‘hydraulic fractuation’ or ‘fracking’ (kind of lose term) is put into place, along with the initial vertical well.
Once the vertical well is drilled, which is pretty deep, a horizontal well is drilled. Then hi pressured water, sand and chemicals are forced down allowing blazer like fractures to occur in the shale rock…This allows the gas to permeate through the shale rock and up through the well, and then to be processed into a gas for industry and civil consumers.
THe US has been using this system to extract energy for 20 years, and has made it economical viable, and see it as a future energy source for decades to come, if not more. other countries are looking to adopt the same systems more recently.
However, environmental issues have arisen alongside this new technique of energy extraction. Briefly, there are issues of leakage of the gas being drilled (methane), either into the atmosphere or into ground water supplies. according to locals, living next to the wells being drilled in the US, their waters and air have been contaminated, Ie, seeing their water becoming inflamed, or live stock dying suddenly by drinking contaminated water.
Another consequence of fracking is earthquakes.
UK halted this technology in lancs recently, due to seismic activity taking place at the time they initiated hydraulic fractuing.
However, uk is going to carry on using this techn of hydraulic fractuing/ fracking to extract gas, but using very strict regulatory procedures, and caution to avoid any human errors and otherwize consequences to the environment, which may have occured within the US.
GUY, i Have put over to you a very brief summary of ‘Fracking’ and what its about. But hope its the basics you might need? and read on.

  4. Jay Vail says:

Fracking is a mechanical extraction process.where they drill holes into shale and or rock formations that hold natural gas and oil or petroleum. They use a special type of hydraulic fluid under high pressure to force the gas and oil out of the rock formations or shale that its trapped in.
    Cheers from the states Guy
