Cycling and stationary engines

Evening all, just got in from a mint push bike ride. I reckon I’ve done a good 50 miles this week on my trusty old Whyte 46. There is nowt like a good old ride out get away from it all.
A massive thanks to you all for leaving me all your messages. It’s mint to see the amount of support I’ve got, ta very much. Oulton Park feels like it was six weeks ago. I’ve just tried to think about it as little as possible, not that I’ve had much chance to think about owt. I’ve been busy working ,then did a day teaching at the Ron Haslam Race School. I’ve also been busy with plenty of barrow jobs in between ridding my push bike. So no rest for the wicked.
I’m doing a dealer day at Cusworths, Doncaster this Sunday from 12 till 2, so if you fancy a yarn then get yourself round. I’m sure the lads there will have the brew on. Then I might have a quick trip to Winterton Steam Rally to eye up some stationary engines. I’m a bit of a Fred Dibnah throwback at heart. Did you know that thay auctioned offf some swarf off from under his lathe for £70 the other week? How cool is that?

Oulton report

Afternoon folks. Sorry it’s not good news again. Oulton didn’t go down to well. You could say it went down like a cup of cold sick. Yet again we had another crap weekend. When the old girl broke down again in the first race I was adding it up in my head how many breakdowns I’ve had this year, and it’s not looking too clever. I’ve had 17 starts and 10 breakdowns. Not too good, eh?

I’m not blaming the team, all the lads are mega, but the hard facts are 10 DNFs. It looks bad for the team,  bad for Honda and even worse for me.

I was driving home from Oulton last night thinking what the hell have i got to do? Take up polo, carpet bowls or pigeon racing? I switched my phone off and went back to work, just to try and forget about what I could probably say is my worst season ever.

Oh well, worse things happen at sea. We’ve got a couple of weeks off now so I can get my head sorted and see what the future holds for the rest of the season. Hmm. I’ll let you know when I’ve got a plan sorted.

This year’s tattoo

It’s the piston from a Suffolk Punch lawnmower, of course!

Look out for the flags.

More from the Southern

The Isle of Man Guy Martin supporter’s club and the Southern 100 tea vouchers. They give you them when you sign on. Now you know why I love the race so much. The other shot, a bit random, is an is Alan Shearer lookalike, from the eyes up anyway, found him in a bar in Castletown. Mint eh?

Evening folks, just driving down to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the pouring rain, sat still on the M25. This is just a quick note to let you know that me, James & Kate came away from the Southern 100 happy bunnies. I finally managed to salvage something from my very average season to date. got a win, a lap record and fastest lap of the week and a few quid to take home! Apart from the racing we managed to get out for a few shandys, got caught up on some much needed sleep and managed to eat my own bodyweight in ice cream on Peel seafront. Big thanks to start with to Yvonne and Len for putting the three of ys up and feeding us like kings. Thanks to all at the Southern 100 club for putting on another top meeting in not the best of weather conditions.

Thanks also to thanks to John for pitboarding and to Steve for making us an extension cable.

I will get something wrote up after Goodwood, hopefully i will get to do some perving on Danni Minogue as I heard she was there last year. I have even spent £16 on some shoes for the occasion.
