Guy Martin brought his 2012 road racing season to a close with five wins at Scarborough’s Oliver’s Mount this weekend. He “re-claimed” the coveted Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup for the eighth time and gave Moneymore based TAS Racing their first Superbike wins at the North Yorkshire circuit.

Riding Tyco TAS Suzuki machinery, Guy opened his account on the Saturday with wins in the opening Superbike race of the Darran Lyndsay Trophy, the David Jeffries Supersport race and a further win in a 600cc Supersport heat. That was followed on Sunday with wins in the second leg of the Darran Lyndsay Trophy and the Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup – making three Superbike and two Supersport wins in total. If it hadn’t been for an intermittent electrical problem that forced him to retire from the lead of the David Jefferies Supersport race on day two, it would have been a clean sweep of six wins from six starts. Speaking afterwards, a delighted Guy said:

It’s been a great day and nice to get my hands back on the Gold Cup for the eighth time. I enjoyed the battle with McGuinness and Co for the win, which made it that little bit more special, and to give Tyco Suzuki their first win is mint. The boys always put in a big effort for me so they really deserve it and the big Suzuki never missed a beat. We almost, almost, had the clean sweep only for what I believe to be a tilt switch problem that caused the bike to cut out in the last race. She was grand when I got her back up onto the fat of the tyre, but it was too risky to take a chance with it. We’ll be happy with our lot: five wins is not to be sniffed at.

A new toolbox, engine, website and some silverware…

…as late as ever, sorry

I see I’ve got a new web site, what do you reckon?

A fair bit to mention since last time – a fairish amount of motor bike racing, plenty of push-biking, more than my fair share of house painting, as much work as ever, and a new tool box. So I’ve been keeping out of mischief.

It was the Ulster GP last weekend, a week without any rain made a welcome change, ta very much as ever for all the support, and to all the lads for a top effort.

Before that I was doing a bit of endurance push biking with the lads from hope, ta very much to simon and the boys for the teeth gritting. It was a proper wet old lot, you wouldn’t have believed there was as much mud in the universe as there was at the mountain mayhem race, good do though, I was well ready for me bath.

What else?? I went and picked up my new tool box, that was an adventure! I’ll get some pics of her up.

My road trip to sweden was a success, oh and I’ve got another engine for my front room, can you see it parked next to one of the trucks? I’ve got a prize for any one who can tell me what wouldn’t fit in the picture? Only a keen eye will see it, I reckon I’ve got a pair of handle bar grips and a strong jar of horse radish for the winner, if you can guess I’ll be more than impressed. Ta to Chris and Neil at Kelltruck for the top job.

What else???????? Oh i hear danny has been keeping you informed with that twatting business – I hope he has kept it clean and kept the onions sweet????

What do you recon to some of the other pics??? A few things are taking shape don’t you reckon??

I reckon there could be a bit of a calandar job in the pipeline as well, none of that posing sameold same-old shit, it’ll be a calander I’d have in the garage and not the titted meat patch varity, I’ll get my finger out and keep you informed.

Cheers

“It’s been a great week at Dundrod and it’s always the job to win the main Ulster Grand Prix Superbike race. I did my best in the second Superbike race to also take the win but if you’re going to win one at Dundrod, the main race is the most important. No one comes to win the ‘B race do they? The bikes worked superbly today, so thanks to the boys and also to Pirelli who put in a big effort this week. It’s nice to reward them with the main race win. Man of the Meeting is a bonus, but a great week overall.” – Guy Martin (read the full article on the Tyco Suzuki site…)
