Right – first things first, what do you reckon to my new ornament? Ta very much to Simon and Adelle for their fancy wood work, all done with chainsaws, no chisels, scalpels or files, just a chainsaw, proper eh?

what about this mark one escort i saw at the ulster gp, who’s is it? proper tidy eh. some more pics from the six hour down hill at fort william, i’ve only just got a license for my camera, only taken me 3 years to get the hang of it.

What about mark one transit vans ? I’m on the case i reckon, its a bit of a perk of the job for a bit I’m doing for the BBC. It’s nowt to do with motor bikes or push bikes, more to do with my fetish for spanners and machines, its not a crime is it? It’ll not get in the way of the motor bike job, its just another job to do as well as fixing trucks, racing push bikes, building engines, and race motor bikes. Reckon I’ve got an hour or two spare over the winter so I’m going to try and get a job working behind the bars again,i miss a bit of glass collecting.

Lego fetish? Is anyone still into it? I got some for Christmas and that flicked my switch again so that was it , I raided my mum and dads loft to drag out the stuff I had when I was a kid. I do need to grow up dont I?

Cadwell was my last meeting , them Harleys aren’t a bad old job, not what i was excepting, a bit more time was needed i recon , but really enjoyed it, different is the word i’d use, not wrong just different.

Ulster Grand Prix – could have been worse, could have been better, but at the end of the day I’d say I was happy enough, being my first proper race back and all, so i shouldn’t complain should I?

Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser; that’s the saying I’m going with.

Nearly mended now

Morning folk, as always i’ve been a bit slack on the blog front but i suppose i’ve got a bit of an excuse this time, running out of electric in Kirmington is a common thing but not for this long, sorry.

Right, I never mentioned but I had a bit of an off while in the Isle of Man doing the TT races last week, nowt too serious, I’m nearly mended now. This bit of an accident has caused a massive load of get well cards, I mean massive, and i couldn’t be more grateful. I reckon I’ve had a 1000 odd emails all wishing me well, as well as 150 odd cards. As well as the mega emails and cards I’ve had allsorts of gifts, stuff like, books, lego, itunes vouchers, enough chocolate and fruit to feed the five thousand, meccano kit, tea bags, money, bike models, teapots, the list goes on, but thanks a million for all the effort that you all put in, it really is appreciated.

Having not been at work for a week has put a fair bit of strain on my mum , mr +mrs lancaster as well as the farmers daughter, but none of them have told me to piss off yet, so ta very much, oh and a big thanks as well to all the staff at nobles at hospital in the isle of man as well as all the marshalls at the place where I crashed for putting up with me. It’ll be right next week, I’m off back to work, I’m not sure how you can find the will to live watching day time telly, so whether it kills me or not im off back to work.

Cheers.

Oh i, southern 100 is in a few weeks, thats the goal.

Guy update : Friday 18th July

Jordan Mackman Zoe, Ami and Eva Todd

Guy is back home. Still battered and very, very bruised but already talking about his comeback. He’ll be back to the blog some, don’t know when but he wanted to say a massive thanks to all the messages, gifts and cards he’s been sent, well over 100 already. He says it’s blown him away – especially the home made cards.

Here are some photos, taken by Madbird, of some special Guy fans who came to see him at the TT last week.

The girls are Zoe, Ami and Eva Todd who came all the way from Northern Ireland to give Guy the pictures they had drawn for him and the lad in the green shirt is Jordan Mackman who brought a good luck letter for Guy. Much appreciated.

Jobs to do before you die

count-arthur-strong-cd

I have a big list of em I’m working my way through, and getting locked up isn’t one of them. If it was, it’d ticked off now. There I was on Wednesday, minding my own buisness at work when I got taken to the cells by Mr Policeman. Not a clever thing, I’ll tell you, but I’m out in one peice and with a bit more respect for the law. Everyday is a school day.

The NW200 could have been better, but also could have been a damnsight worse. A big ta to Wilson for all his effort, and also to Cammy, Johnny and Danny for plugging through what seemed to be a mountain of work. Now it’s a big push to get everything spot on for the TT. So that’s where my dad comes in. We’ve both been busy after work getting stuff ready on the Superbike and 600, while johnny has been putting his finishing touches to the Superstock bike. Job’s looking right, a bit of reliability and we should be on the pig’s back. Where did that saying come from? Was it owt to do with Count Arthur Strong?

Flanders, Thruxton and the NW200

Picture 1 of 2

Morning campers, I said I was going to write something about Thruxton didn’t I? But firstly, thanks to Aiden here are some pics from the Tour of Flanders. Don’t worry, I haven’t sold out and worn Lycra yet, can’t see it myself. That’s event is pain for you though. A mega ride that was.

My dad is a bit more up with computers than me, and said he thought this was funny. My computer isn’t fast enough to play it, but I’m sure I offend someone.

Right, Thruxton, had a educational weekend. Good to get out on a motorbike again. You sometimes forget what the motorbiking thing is all about after a long winter, but you’re soon back into it after a few laps. I learnt that the bikes aren’t far off . They need fine tuning, but they are not a mile away, throttle on the right, clutch on the left. Still not got a go on the superbike yet, waiting for her to get screwed together, so as a bit of a last minute decision, we are now going to ride superstock and superbike at this weekend’s Oulton Park meeting, just to try and get some miles in before the fast approaching NW200. It’ll all come out in the wash I’m sure. Just can’t wait to get back racing on the roads again. As for the new calendar, I reckon it’s just about cock on, just a bit undecided about the Skerries or Goodwood, that will all depend on how the TT goes, and whether that means I get a summer holiday at the Megavalanch or not. It was borderline as to whether I deserved it last year, so I’m going to have to pull my finger out this year, aren’t I?

Oh nearly forgot, how could i forget? Last minute decision again on Sat afternoon after work to go to the REEF gig, at Manchester academy. I know, but what a mega gig. I mean mega. They where only doing five gigs, and this was the last one, so I dragged the farmer’s daughter and Adrian along, and what a night. I smelt of a pig farm after a long stint in the mosh pit, but a small price to pay for a mega gig. They are doing some festivals this summer if you get chance to see em, you’ll not be disappointed.

Plans, Tractors and the Lords of Dogtown

Sorry that I’ve been as slack as ever on the entry front.

I’ve got a plan for racing now, seeings as I didn’t get an entry for Portugal I’ve had a good think for a plan of attack.

Easter weekend is the Tour of Flanders on the pushbike, the weekend after is a mountain bike race in Wales, then Thruxton British Championship, where I’m doing Superstock on the Fireblade and Supersport on the CBR600. The weekend after that is Cookstown if i can get hold of the right man to get an entry. Then it’s Oulton Park, same again: Supersport and Superstock, then another mountain bike race, the NW200 after that, Cadwell Supersport after that, then it’s the TT. Phew… I’ll go into detail a bit more when I’ve got a spare minute.

Other business, ta very much to Tim for the loan of this Guy Gibson book, a mega read if you get a chance. While we’re getting cultural you should try see the DVD Lords of Dogtown. It’s one of Shorty’s recommendations. It’s based on the documentary of Dog town and the Z-boys. It’s a mega film and a good reason not to wear a watch. Oh, and there was a classic tractor run round our way. Now that’s a bit of me. I was just a spectator but that’s a job for the future I reckon. 70-odd tractors turned up, so a good old show.

Watch that film if you get chance, gives an idea into what can happen when you get away from the original plan. More tea vicar?

As sharp as a marble

As sharp as a marble, as thick as mince or as green as I am cabbage looking, that’s me. Not the sharpest tool in the box. But, as we where out biking in the Peaks on Sunday, with the guidence of Sponge, Lindsey and Stella, we came across the house of the bloke who invented the widget. It’s something to do with beer tins and giving good head, but whatever it is, it’s made him a quid or two, so he’s obviously not quite as thick as cart grease. Whenever I go to Yorkshire I always coming back a bit wiser.

The farmer’s daughter is now the wrong side of 30, or is that the right side? Whatever side, it was a night out for the farmers and wannabe farmers like me. I reckon the Southern food thing is catching on up here, well it had that night. There was a lot of plate and not a lot of food, nice though. I had to top up with skinheads on a raft when I got home. Happy birthday lass.

Been getting an ear bending for not getting around to Paddy’s to sign those replica lids. Sorry, but it’s been murder at work and barrow jobs, a 30-hour day would cure the job.

I’ll get the calendar up next week. The first race is end of March in Portugal (as long as I get an entry), then mountain biking in Wales, the Cookstown  and Thruxton. Or that’s the plan. It’ll be gospel next week.
